Education + Tertiary + Library + Administration

Over our 16 years in operation, Premis has completed over 250 education projects (worth over $90 million). In recent months, the team has completed another four projects — the Carindale Library extension, Inala Library refurbishment, the University of Southern QLD B Block refurbishment, and the fit out of the Mooloolaba TAFE Cyber Security Training Facility — adding to our already impressive portfolio.

The Carindale and Inala library projects were part of the Brisbane City Council’s (BCC) commitment to deliver new opportunities for library users to connect with family and friends in one of the infrastructure spaces that make Brisbane so great.

The Carindale Library project involved an extension that increased the existing space by over 460m2. Considered a somewhat unconventional design for a library, the space is now bursting with colour, including on the walls and carpet and on the eye-catching acoustic panelling in the meeting rooms. New facilities include a kitchenette, quiet rooms, a flexible space for library programs, increased lounge, and study seating, as well as an adult “makerspace” to support digital literacy and lifelong learning.

Premis was also engaged by the BCC, to refurbish the outdated Inala Library – with a plan developed via feedback from customers and library staff. The interior was demolished, and a new fit out completed with the result being a vibrant, colourful and modern fit-for-purpose facility that meets the needs of the local community.

The project at Mooloolaba TAFE was funded under the Queensland Government’s $100 million “Equipping TAFE for our Future” commitment. The new Cyber Security Training Operation Centre is part of a state-wide training initiative which will simulate cyber-attacks, defence and monitoring, and the fit out has provided brand new, high-tech cyber security training facilities. Police Minister, Mark Ryan has commented that the education provided at the TAFE Mooloolaba facility will ensure Sunshine Coast residents benefit from the growing number of cyber security jobs.

The great relationship Premis has with the University of Southern Queensland is continuing with the recent completion of a full refurbishment of the existing B Block administration building. The building houses the Head of Academics, the Vice Chancellor, and the administration team. The new space now includes a gallery and function space on the ground floor, and new offices for the Head of Academics, the Vice Chancellor, and the administration team.
