State recognition for Everton Park Library at the Master Builders Queensland Housing and Construction Awards!

We’re thrilled to share that the Everton Park Library project has received state-level recognition at this year’s Master Builders Queensland Housing and Construction Awards, following its earlier regional win.
This project represents the very best of collaboration between Brisbane City Council, the talented bureau^proberts design team, and our dedicated site and project team, all working together to create a truly special community space.

Situated at 561 South Pine Road, the site has been home to a library since 1965, with its last refurbishment completed in 1993–94. The redevelopment introduces a modern two-storey building with undercroft parking and a striking contemporary façade featuring a sawtooth profile that pays homage to the historical sawmill once located on the site.
More than just a library, Everton Park Library has become a welcoming hub for learning, connection, and community. The design harmoniously integrates the building with its natural surroundings, wrapping around an existing tree canopy to offer tranquil park views and an immediate sense of calm.

Expanding from 454m² to 1,100m², the new facility accommodates a diverse range of functions and services. It has been designed with Brisbane’s climate, landscape, and lifestyle in mind, incorporating energy-efficient lighting, air conditioning systems, solar power, and a rain garden filtration system to minimise environmental impact.
Inside, flexible spaces cater to a wide range of community uses — from quiet reading and study to children’s activities and local events. The seamless connection to the adjacent park blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, encouraging movement through the site and engagement with nature. Every design and construction detail contributes to a space that feels open, inclusive, and deeply connected to its setting.
The former library building footprint has been transformed into a landscaped park, creating additional green space and a new pathway link to Fallon Park, further integrating the library within the community’s recreational network. The new Everton Park Library represents a significant investment in public infrastructure, designed to support education, connection, and community growth for years to come.
We’re incredibly proud to have delivered a facility that not only meets the needs of the community today but will continue to serve as a valued civic space for generations to come.

A huge congratulations also goes to bureau^proberts, winners of an Australian Good Design Award for Everton Park Library, a project that continues to set the benchmark for design excellence in Queensland.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees at this year’s awards, what an outstanding showcase of our state’s construction industry.
