Premis successfully completed the construction and outfitting of a new café and retail space in the Clinical Services Building at Caboolture Hospital, transforming the cold shell space into a vibrant area for patients, staff, and visitors. This addition significantly enhances the hospital’s ambiance and offering, contributing positively to the overall healthcare experience.

The project unfolded in a single stage, and involved:

  • The creation of a commercial kitchen and café within the designated shell space, featuring a comprehensive cookline, pot wash, and preparation zones.
  • Supply and installation of kitchen equipment.
  • The incorporation of stainless-steel benching, adhering to Australian Standards, with practical under-bench shelving and specified storage solutions.
  • Establishment of a dedicated administration area and a walk-in cold room with an integrated freezer and systematic racking.
  • Provision of essential hand wash facilities, for hygiene and safety.
  • Development of a multifunctional food servery area, complemented by coffee and order collection stations, a hot food display, and a versatile servery counter with retail display capabilities.
  • Installation of display refrigeration units and integrated closure security trellis.
  • Installation of signage, including digital counter and menu displays.
  • All associated works including floors, ceilings, and finishes.
  • All essential services such as mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, data, gas, and fire systems.

A significant challenge in this project was the integration of the extensive services and components within the existing infrastructure, requiring design management.

Premis’s effective management of the project’s challenges played a crucial role in the outcome – a welcoming, visually appealing, and functional café and retail space in the hospital’s new Clinical Services Building.
