Premis completed a fit-out of the Paediatric Minor Injury and Illness Clinic, for Children’s Health QLD Hospital and Health Service.

The new space is light, bright and inviting for our little one’s needing medical assistance.

The purpose of the fit-out was to make the existing space suitable for the GP-led Paediatric Minor Injury and Illness Clinic (P-MIIC) to provide care for appropriate category 4 and 5 presentations to Queensland Children’s Hospital Emergency Department.

Works involved the strip-out of the existing tenancy, building of new seismic strength partition walls and ceilings, installation of a new distribution board and upgrade to power supplies, new IT rack, medical light system and medical service panels, modifications to the existing mechanical services to accommodate the clean environment and new flooring throughout.

The space now includes a fabulous new reception, an updated emergency department and waiting areas, four new consult rooms, storeroom, two treatment rooms, clean-up station and a breakout room that doubles as a conference meeting room when required.

To minimise disruption and ensure the hospital remained operational, the fit-out was undertaken in two stages. Stage one involved the complete strip out and fit-out of the clinic, located on level two of the hospital. Stage two involved below-floor drainage works requiring the ceilings in the emergency department waiting area and treatment rooms below to be accessed.

Stage two was further broken down into five smaller stages with each stage involving cutting through the ceilings to install new drainage. The ceiling was then replaced, and the team proceeded to the next section.
