Premis delivered a fitout for Queensland University of Technology (QUT), transforming existing classrooms into new teaching labs designed to enhance learning and collaboration.
Project Highlights:
- Strip-Out Phase: The project began by stripping out the existing classrooms, including mechanical services, ducting, air handling units, lighting, power, and data infrastructure.
- Fit-Out Phase: The fit-out included the creation of two new computer labs and an open collaboration space. Additionally, we designed and constructed break-out and study booths to provide flexible learning environments.
- New Installations: The project featured the installation of sophisticated audiovisual equipment and all new mechanical, fire, electrical, data, and security services. This included a new air handling unit and a new distribution board to ensure optimal functionality.
- Flooring and Furniture: New flooring was installed in select areas, and we procured and installed modern, functional furniture, including workstations and study tables, to create comfortable and efficient study spaces.
- Acoustic Enhancements: An acoustic grid ceiling was installed above the study booths to improve sound quality and minimise distractions. The collaboration space was fitted with new linear lighting and acoustic ceiling fins to enhance both aesthetics and acoustics.
- Live Environment: All work was carried out in a live environment, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing university activities.
This project adds to Premis’ already large tertiary portfolio, further showcasing our expertise in the sector and our ability to work effectively in live environments.
